….after lengthy presentations and debate from all three Gubernatorial candidates the Club chose Zephyr Teachout with a majority vote of 14. Pre and Post coverage of VID and its pending decision whether to endorse any candidate has been pretty impressive. VID-MINUTES-July-10-2014
From Capital New York:
Of the 26 votes cast at the Village Independent Democrats club, Teachout received 14 votes and Cuomo got six. “No endorsement” was supported by four people while comedian Randy Credico got two votes. Teachout won the club’s endorsement on the first ballot. In May, before Teachout entered the race, V.I.D. decided not to endorse any candidate for governor.
From the NY Daily News:
A Fordham University Law professor looking to dethrone Gov. Cuomo won the endorsement of the Village Independent Democrats Club Thursday night.
From The Villager:
Downtown progressive Democratic club members were having a hard time finding reasons why they should support re-electing Governor Andrew Cuomo to another term. More to the point, there were too many reasons not to back him, they felt, such as his support for charter schools, his acceptance of the Independence Party ballot line and his indecision on hydrofracking, just to name a few.
And also from The Villager:
Something in the Airbnb? At the Village Independent Democrats’ May 30 endorsement meeting, Assemblymember Keith Wright spoke on behalf of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s re-election bid.
If that wasn’t enough, the meeting ended with a very thorough discussion about the new Lenox Hill HealthPlex its set-up and capabilities with Dr. Eric Cruzen. DON”T FORGET, there’s another open house tour scheduled for Saturday July 12th.
And now “to the tape…”
