VID’s Bike Forum on May 10th, enjoyed excellent press coverage and an editorial featured in The Villager in their May 17 edition.  It is a real treat to see the prominent credit given to Nadine Hoffman in the editorial.

On Thursday, May 10th VID hosts a panel for Bikers, Walkers and Drivers at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 81 Christopher St. from 8:15-9:30 p.m.  The forum will  highlight the issues of safety and rules, plus the new Bike Share program.  There will even be a fashion show of the latest in biker fashion !

Panelists include:  George Bliss, biker and owner of Hudson Urban Bicycles (HUB0 and an advocate for safer bikes; Steve Vaccaro, biker and lawyer dealing with the legal aspects of bike-riding in the city; Caroline Samponaro of Transportation Alternatives and the Bike Share Program; Council Speaker Christine Quinn’s office with pending legislation dealing with electric bikes and other relevant issues.

 

The forum is free and open to the public.  Refreshments will be served.

Our next VID General Membership meeting is Thursday, April 14, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Marks Church, East 10th Street and 2nd Avenue in Parish Hall (after entering the main St. Marks gate, follow path on right toward the rear entry at back of the main building). We have a very exciting program with a panel discussing bicycles in New York City, called “Bikes, Bikers and Bike Lanes”. It was assembled and organized by Nadine Hoffmann. This meeting is open to non-members, so please invite your friends and get out the word.
The panel presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. Panelists: Paul S. White, Executive Director, Transportation Alternatives; Nancy Gruskin, Founder, the Gruskin Family Foundation, and Tony Juliano, President and Chair, Greenwich Village-Chelsea Chamber of Commerce.
