58th Annual Awards Gala

VID Celebrates its 58th year with an Awards Gala A highlight in the spring season of NYC politics, VID’s 58th Annual fête  promises no less in 2015.  The Spring Forward Awards Gala will take place on Thursday, April 30th from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Tio Pepe Restaurant, at 168 West 4th St. Honors will go to Zephyr Teachout and Tim Wu for bringing progressive values to the ballot and challenging the Democratic status quo.  Receiving honors for the fight for a living wage for all workers will be Shantel Walker, on behalf of Fast Food Forward. New Officers - Part II

At the January 8th meeting the membership elects new officers and passes resolutions With a full house Nadine Hoffman, VID’s new President opened a lively meeting to elect new VID officers for 2015: Treasurer(s), Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretaries and Executive Committee.  This meeting also included an update from Councilmember Corey Johnson’s office, via Eric Bottcher and discussion and passage of two resolutions and two letters: Resolution introduced by Tom Connor,  Governor’s cancellation of Health Fair Resolution by Jim Fouratt, Support For NYC Mayor & Speaker of NYC Council Letter of Sympathy introduced by Nadine Hoffmann, Re: Murder of Two NYC Police Officers Letter to Gov Cuomo re Hydro-Fracking introduced by Jonathan Geballe And the new officers election results? Minutes of January 2014

Posted here are the Minutes of January 2014.  Here are some highlights. David Kruger updated everyone about the anti-fracking bus trip to Albany on January 8th.  More press coverage from PBS station WSKG Keen Berger reported that Tim Gay has resigned at the Board of Elections, and will be replaced by Jamal Nelson, District Leader in Harlem.  Keen also announced that the transfer of 75 Morton Street from New York State to New York City for a middle school is still in the works. Jonathan Geballe reported on the lawsuit brought by the GVSHP vs. NYU, in which Deborah Glick is involved.  He said this was a huge victory for the neighborhood.  The court determined that three strips of land that weren’t officially designated parkland could not be used by NYU without permission of the New York State legislature.  The University will still proceed with the Zipper Building and other parts […]

VID Elected 2014 Officers
