The Public Advocate Candidates Forum 2019 Featured 17 Candidates and Nine Clubs Held at the LGBT Center on West 13th St, the Public Advocate Candidates Forum 2019 attracted hundreds of activist voters with no shortage of questions to ask of the candidates.  And, the well-credentialed roster was certainly up for the task.  VID endorsed Benjamin Yee for Public Advocate, in a members-only meeting following the Forum. Public Advocate Candidates Forum - UPDATE

VID and Nine Other Democratic Clubs Sponsor a Public Advocate Candidates Forum, on January 6th, 2019 at the LGBT Center, 208 West 13th St. The multi-club Public Advocate Candidates Forum will host 17 confirmed candidates, thus far announced. RSVP is requested    Download the Brochure VID will have an endorsement meeting from 5-6 PM after the forum.   Club members will discuss the Public Advocate candidates and vote for a club endorsee. November 7 Ballot Endorsements

At the Oct. 12th Meeting VID voted upon November 7 Ballot  Endorsements VID voted to oppose proposal #1 and approved proposals # 2 and #3.  For City Council District 1 there was no endorsement. On the first of the November 7 ballot endorsements asking for a majority vote for a Constitutional Convention, VID unanimously rejected the proposal and thus agreed with the opinion of the New York Civil Liberties Union at the September meeting.  Question #2, “Allowing the Complete or Partial Forfeiture of a Public Officer’s Pension if He or She is Convicted of a Certain Type of Felony,” and question #3 “Authorizing the Use of Forest Preserve Land for Specified Purposes” received unanimous approval at the October meeting.  You can see the full text of all three proposed ammendments here. VID Officer Elections completed on Jan. 12th In a well-attended meeting which also featured a thorough presentation on how to protect rent-stabilized tenants, VID members voted for the remaining slate of Officers and the 2017 Executive Committee.  Now, VID Officer Elections are complete.
