$15 Minimum Wage

The $15 Minimum Wage was the subject of the Joint VID/Chelsea Reform Democratic Club Forum on Oct. 15th… with members of both clubs filling the Fulton Houses Community Center Auditorium at 413 Ninth Avenue.  VID President Nadine Hoffmann and CRDCNYC President Michael Schreiber welcomed panelists NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer, Small Business advocate Attorney Steve Barrison and Queens Center for Progress Executive Director, Charles Houston, each with different reference points regarding the $15 minimum wage. Rent Stabilized/Controlled Apartments

News About Keeping Rent Stabilized/Controlled Apartments From Going Market Rate The rent of the PREVIOUS tenant must have been $2700 before a rent stabilized/ controlled apartment can go market rate. Landlords can no longer raise the rent to $2700 after the previous tenant moves out by doing remodeling and using other gimmicks to get it to $2700 needed to go market rate. To find out the rent paid by the previous tenant ask DHCR for the rent history going back to 1984. You will need proof that you reside in the apartment: lease, utility bill, or driver’s license at that address. If there is a rent scam, consult a lawyer first and  file a complaint with DHCR
