Because there actually is an election on November 5th the VID campaign committee has put together a VID campaign to help elect our endorsed candidates.  Below you will find our planned activities.  Please contact either our campaign  chair, Peter Crosta, or Tony Hoffmann, and let us know how you can help.  Thank you.

Following an Elections 2013 update by Peter Crosta, elections were held for Corresponding Secretary and Recording Secretary.  Ed Yutkowitz (Corresponding Secretary) and Kathy Slawinski (Recording Secretary) were nominated and elected unanimously by voice vote.

Assemblymember Deborah Glick reported to the membership.  She stated that she would be supporting all 6 of the referenda on the November ballot.  She also discussed a number of other issues including the selling of air rights for Pier 40 and entertained questions from the floor.  If you missed the meeting or have not been able to keep up with Pier 40 developments, you can see a chronology of issues and coverage at Curbed.com and read a comprehensive piece by GVSHP’s Andrew Berman that appeared in The Villager, July 18th, 2013

Dr. Alec Pruchnicki and Len Rodberg made the presentation “Obamacare is Good, but more healthcare reform Is on its Way”.

Initially, Star Morris, navigator for the Affordable Care Act, made a presentation regarding the rollout of the ACA.

The resolution regarding H.R. 676, Medicare for All, was passed overwhelmingly (35 in favor 1 opposed).  The state resolution, regarding the Gottfried/Perkins bill was passed conditionally (35 in favor 1 opposed) pending adjustments to be made by the Executive Committee on October 28th.

Lastly, the three candidates for the State Supreme Court, Peter Mentone, Deborah James and Anil Sing, and Letitia James, candidate for Public Advocate were all endorsed unanimously by voice vote.
