VID's Annual Meeting January 10, 2013

VID’s Annual  Meeting will be held on Thursday, January 10 at 7:00 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 83 Christopher Street.  Download a copy of VID’s Annual Meeting agenda here. Preceding the election of our remaining officers for 2013 there will be a report from District Leaders Keen Berger and Brad Hoylman and a special report by Congressman Jerrold Nadler regarding Congressional deliberations on fiscal issues;  gun control legislation; as well as other issues of concern to our club.  There will be a Q & A session following the Congressman’s report. VID Elects New Officers

On December 13th, with a full house of members VID  elects new officers –  Tony Hoffmann President and three Vice Presidents: Nat Johnson , Marti Speranza  and Peter Crosta . Also attending the meeting were a host of new members recruited from this fall’s  bus rides for Obama organized by Yayoi Tsuchitani and managed by Nadine Hoffmann. State Senator Tom Duane added his special touch with a farewell “official” visit updating the club on the recent leadership shuffle in the NYS Senate and expressing his confidence that new State Senator Brad Hoylman would pick up the baton quickly. VID Supports Petition for Rockaways Emergency Housing

At ViD’s December 13th general membership meeting the membership voted to put VID’s name on a petition that that urges FEMA to immediately dispatch Rockaways emergency housing. As of Monday, December 12th there were still 29,000 people without power. Most of these people have gone for over three weeks without power, water and heat. Night time temperatures in the Rockaways have been freezing and many areas suffer from poor sanitation.   This petition to immediately dispatch Rockaways emergency housing will be delivered to the following government officials.
